Girly Scrapbook

I am not much of a scrapbooker, not for a lack of desire to be sure. It's more because I seem to lack the natural ability for it. It doesn't come easy to me and I find it intimidating to have to fill a 12x12 page with something interesting and good looking. But I do try from time to time, and this is my current attempt. I have no idea what I'm going to use it for but when I found these pink covers at Archiver's I knew I had to have them. They were only $4.00 and the plastic page covers on the inside were only $1.00 from a local scrapbook store that was going out of business. I already had all of the other supplies on hand. So for $5.00 I knew I couldn't go wrong. I don't have anything inside yet except for DP and matching CS but I think it's a pretty good start. What do you think?

Valentine Heart

Hi there everyone! Have you started to make any Valentine's Day cards yet? This is my first one this year. I went to Archiver's to spend the gift card I got for my birthday...it was burning a hole in my pocket you know! :) That's when I got this heart die by Quic Cuts. Isn't it great? It's actually 2 dies: 1 regular heart (the pink one that is in the background) and 1 with the swirls cut out. So even though it was a little expensive I got 2 dies out of it. I used my Cuttlebug to punch it out but it would probably work with any cutting system you have.

Lordy Lordy...I Am Forty!!!

Yes it's true, I can't deny it any longer...I am now forty years old. :( It wasn't too painful but it wasn't fun either. My birthday was last Thursday. I took the day off of work so I could just be by myself and do whatever I wanted. I slept in, went out to lunch, and went shopping. Pretty good day in my book! Then in the evening my husband and kids took me out to dinner and back home for cake. My husband and daughter made this cake for me and they whole heartily agree that it's the ugliest cake they've ever seen. I told them that's ok because it was very appropriate for the ugly number 40 birthday. It tasted good though!

Warning...Stamp Club Project!

Fair warning to all of my stamp club members...this is project #4 so don't look if you want to be surprised! Since it's the beginning of a new year I thought a good project would be to make a 2009 calendar. I printed this calendar from the A Muse website. For a $4.00 donation to their leukemia fund you can download their 2009 calendar file. This way you can print it off as many times as you like whenever you like and the money goes to a good cause. I used heavy weight coasters as covers and decorated them with SU DP. Then I bound the covers and pages with my Bind-it-all. I will leave this by my desk to remember important SU sale and release dates, etc. I saw someone use a smaller version of these calendars in a decorated checkbook cover which I think would be very useful...hmmm. :)

Light Unto My Path

This is another stamp set form SU that is retiring soon. I've had my eye on it for a while but I'm glad I didn't get it until now because I got it for 10% off and free S&H!

Has It Been A Long Time Or What?!!

Hi there everyone! Long time no post. I hope you all enjoyed your holidays. We've been having a great time. In case you've all been wondering...my son ended up having a very good time on Christmas morning. Santa brought back all of his presents and he seemed very excited to be able to play with them. I could see his wheels turning in his mind when he opened some of them but he was appropriately excited and never said anything to his little sister about what happened and what he saw. I too had a very good time that morning. My Christmas spirit returned when I watched my daughter and husband open their gifts, so all went well.

I haven't posted any cards or projects because I've been busy with house projects. I've been off work for a week and a half and thought it would be a good time to do some painting. Now that my son is almost in the double digits I thought his room needed a big boy update. So gone are the trucks and airplanes, and in their place are maps and dinosaurs. I painted the walls a kind of olive green color (the color of dinosaurs and the forest :) ). Then I changed the color of the accent wall in their playroom from plum to red. 5 coats of red to be exact!! I thought that since the wall was a dark color already I wouldn't need to prime the wall, my mistake! So after 5 coats and several trips to the hardware store it's all done and looks great. I also reorganized some closets and put up some shelves, etc. It feels so good to be organized!!

Anyway, here's the first card I've made in about 2-3 weeks. It's a birthday card for my brother who will be turning 48 in a couple weeks. I used the Crab & Company stamp set from SU which will be retiring soon. I think this little guy is so cute! I combined a couple of layouts that I found on the Splitcoaststampers website (follow link on my sidebar). I'm sure you already know but I'll go ahead and tell you that Splitcoast has an area that is organized by the names of the SU stamp sets that people have used to make the cards they've posted. So if you have a stamp set from SU that you don't know what to do with you can just look there to find a layout you like.
