Simple Thanks

Happy Friday everyone! We've had a good day here. We got a lot of errands done and even had time to see Wall E and go out to eat. Wall E was very cute by the way, worth the money for sure.

I made several of these cards as thank you's to a few of my customers who recently placed some orders. I gave it along with an assortment of some of my embellishments that I've gathered over the years, and some stamped images that they can use. I just wanted to let them know how much I appreciate them.

Outdoor Fun

Well my Wednesday is over which means only tomorrow is left and I'm done for the week! Our town is having their annual Fishers Freedom Festival this weekend and there are a lot of fun things to do there: food vendors, games for the kids, parades, fireworks, etc. Just a nice hometown festival like I remember going to as a kid. Also, the movie Wall E comes out this Friday. So we are all looking forward to this weekend. I hope you all have good weekends too!

This card represents what many people do for fun in the summer which is camping. We aren't big campers in my family. We like the sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows part but when it comes to bedtime we prefer a regular bed and access to a toilet and shower. We definitely would do the camper thing if we could afford one.

Tree of Friendship

Happy Monday all! I know, the words "happy" and "Monday" should not be in the same sentence! But actually today was a pretty good day so it's alright just this once. :) I made this card really quick last night and I love how it turned out. I was a little off center when I stamped the outlines of the leaves but I kind of like it. The white showing on the tops of some of the leaves gives an illusion of light coming from that direction. So sometimes mistakes can be a good thing.

Masculine Card

I sometimes wonder if guys get tired of brown and blue. It seems like whenever I think of making a card for a guy I automatically think of those two colors. I suppose society has just conditioned me to think that way. I do know that if I gave my husband a card made with pink and purple he would look at me like I had two heads. So I guess brown and blue works for him. :)

Homey Hospitality

Hello everyone! I hope you all have had a good weekend. We had fun this weekend. On Friday we drove up to my parent's home in Chesterton (5 miles south of the Dunes State Park) and played at the beach for a while. The kids had fun playing in the water (it was too chilly for me to get in!) and digging in the sand. Even though it's not the ocean it's nice to walk the beach and hear the waves. It was great growing up there. I went to the beach almost every day in the summers when I could drive by myself. I would lay out on the beach from 10:00-2:00 without any sunscreen and not think twice about it. If I tried that now I would be suffering for days and probably get sun poisoning. That makes me think the o-zone is thinning for sure.

A Happy Life

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope your week is going well. The rain has stopped here for the last several days and things are starting to dry out. We didn't get any flooding here in Fishers but there was a lot nearby (south of Indianapolis). I feel terrible for the people affected by it. Many of them lost everything they had. Sure makes you happy for the things you have... you know, like your life, your health, your kids, food, a warm bed, etc...just the little things! :) So when I saw this card it reminded me of that. I cased this card from I Heart to Stamp (follow the link on my sidebar), it is designed by Dawn Easton. I didn't have the exact same stamps, etc that she made it with but mine is pretty close I think. Enjoy!

Surf's Up Dude!

I just adore Riley Moose! He is so cute and is always doing fun things. Here he is enjoying a great summer day by catching a few waves and hanging 10, or would that be 2? How many toes do moose actually have?? :) Anyway, I had fun making and coloring this one. I hope you like it too. Mary

Teeny Tiny Purse

Check out this cute little purse! Isn't it adorable?! I found it on the ChicknScratch blog site (follow the link on my sidebar) where it is actually called a Nugget purse because she put a piece of Nugget candy in it. I didn't have any Nuggets so I just used a midget tootsie roll.

The measurements of the base CS is 5 x 1 1/2 which is scored at 1 1/2, 2 1/2, and 4. After folding use a corner rounder on the short end which makes the front flap. The stripe of CS measures 5 x 1/2 which is placed in the center of the base CS and folded over it, then it is adhered with tape. For the handle use a small hole punch and punch 2 holes on the fold line at the top. Then place a piece of ribbon through the holes and tie a knot on each end on the inside of the purse. Close the purse and punch a hole through all of the layers. It is then held together by the brad that has been placed through a flower.

It was sooooo simple and fun! Great little party favor for a kids birthday, a shower, a SU party, an anytime gift for friends at work, etc.

Fun With Score Pal

I have been wanting to do this cross-hatch pattern with my score pal for so long and I don't know what I was waiting for...it was so easy! If you don't have a score pal you need to get one. It makes scoring a snap and best of all...no measuring. I got mine at Archiver's and used a 30% off coupon so that made it easier to justify. Go get one today! :)

Puzzle Project

This is a quick little puzzle I made for my daughter. I've seen these puzzles at JoAnn's for a long time and have wanted to try them out. So I finally bought some the other day and gave it a go. It was fun and easy and Holly really liked it. The only problem is that when you try to put it back together the pieces don't want to stay together. So if I were going to give it to someone I would tell them to assemble it on strips of tape to hold it together. That's what my daughter and I did and it worked fine.

Happy Hello

Well it's the end of another week. It was a good week here for us. My kids had their first week of "camp/daycare" and they had a great time. Even though our daycare expenses increase dramatically for the summer it sure is nice not having to deal with homework, fixing a school lunch, etc. And they do a lot of fun things at this camp. My son went on a field trip every day this week, and my daughter went on field trips 2 days, played games one day, and had sprinkler day the other day. So at least they're not sitting around watching TV all day every day.

This card reminds me of my Grandmother. Why you ask? Well, she had an apron that had a similar pattern with lace on the edges. It was soft and worn and gave me comfort when I hugged her and snuggled up. She was a great Grandma!

Friends

I cased this lovely card from Chat Wszelaki at Me My Stamps and I (follow link on sidebar). I thought the colors were fabulous together and the layout was great. She did an awesome job with it. I have had the stamp set "A Little Bit of Happiness" for some time now but couldn't think of a good way to use it, so when I found this card I just had to give it a try.

For the Golfing Dad

I loved this argyle printed DP when I saw it in the store and knew it would make a great addition to a golf themed card. The problem was I didn't have any golf stamps, but I knew where I could get one...Stamping Bella. I had already seen this Golfafella and wanted to get it because my in-laws are avid golfers, so now I had an excuse! It's kind of strange to buy a stamp to go along with the paper, usually it's done the other way around. But in this case it was just meant to be.

Early Happy 4th of July!

Hi all. Well, our plans to go to the Indians game last night were washed out. There was a big band of red with lots of lightning strikes heading our way so, much to my son's dismay, we decided it wouldn't be wise to go. We went out to eat and to local arcade instead. Not the same but fun none the less.

I know it's not close to the 4th of July yet but I just got this stamp set and paper from Archiver's and wanted to try it out. I had a 30% off coupon which I used on the set that had the fireworks and celebrate sentiment. And I also had a free Hot Spot item coupon where I found the Happy 4th of July sentiment that is on the inside of the card. What luck! I think all together I only spent $11.00. I love it when things work out like that.

Block Party

Hi there everyone. Happy weekend! Today was a happy day at my house...it was the first day of summer vacation! My kids and I celebrated by going out for lunch and seeing Kung Fu Panda, awesome movie BTW! When my husband comes home from work later we will go to an Indians game and watch the fireworks.

So since I spent my usual stamping day with my kids I had to post this card which I actually made last weekend. It is a design by Jen del Muro that is just fabulous. The colors against the black and white look so crisp and clean. I'm sorry that my photo is a little blurry. I'm still trying to perfect my photo taking skills. I just got a photo cube and some special photography light bulbs, but the light bulbs won't fit into the lamps I have. So now I have to go out and find some new lamps. :( I'm bound and determined to get it right because I think the photo of the card really makes a difference in how professional the card looks. Stay with me while I try to figure it all out!!

Just Because

Oh my gosh this card was so hard to make! I saw it on someones blog somewhere and thought it was so cute because the flowers are actually stamped on the inside of the card and you are seeing them through the circle windows. Well, I only have one size of a circle punch and my Nestabilities circle dies didn't have one that was the right size either. So I punched the front flap of the card and the pink CS with my circle punch and then had to cut the circles in the yellow CS with my craft knife. What a pain! Don't look too closely or you will see a few mistakes. It definitely would have been easier if I had two sizes of regular circle punches. But I do like the end result so I will try again when I get my other punch.

Dad, I know you look at my blog daily so you may want to divert your eyes because you might receive this card in a few weeks! :) This is a Father's Day card that I cased from one of my favorite blogs "My Life". These colors look so great together and don't you just love this tree? It is from a set by Papertrey called "Father Knows Best" and if you don't have many stamps and sentiments for Father's Day or Dad's in general you should really check this one out.

It's Been Sooooo Long!!

Oh my goodness, it's been so long since I've posted anything! I was starting to have withdrawals! We have been very busy around here with Memorial Day weekend and all the things it takes to wind up the end of the school year. Then when I was ready to post something, my husband had the disc card to my camera at work downloading pictures onto a disc for me, so I had no way to post any pictures. What a mess! But I have it back now so all is well and right with the world again. :)

Anyway, this post is of a super quick project I did for my son's teachers. You may have seen them around before but I thought I would go ahead and show them to you. The first one is with a coffee mug I got at Target's dollar spot. First, I filled it with coffee beans (pretty yummy start-right?). Then I made the "flowers", which are really ink pens, by snipping a flower off the stem leaving about 1/2 inch of the stem. Then I attached it to the top end of the pen with floral tape and continued wrapping it around the pen down to the tip. Then I just put a bunch of them into the beans and that's it! I'm going to stick a Starbucks gift card into the beans as well. A pretty, functional, easy, and inexpensive gift for any teacher's desk. The other one is made with a metal pail I got at Michael's for $2.50 which I filled with kidney beans. (I might keep this one for myself actually! ;) )
