Ice Cream Pops

Aren't these just the cutest things you've ever seen? They came out on SCS a few months ago and I don't know who designed them but they are so clever! I had to wait until now to make them because I didn't have the scallop circle punch or the ribbon from SU to make them. Sure, I could have used my Nestie scallop circle dies and some different ribbon, but I just really liked how it looked using these supplies better. I put glitter on the orange to make it look juicy and I colored part of the strawberry with a Chocolate Chip marker and covered that with Crystal Effects to make it look like it's been dipped in chocolate. So adorable!

Gift Bag

Hi there everyone! Hope you've had a good week. Things have been pretty busy here. My son started football this week with mini-camp being Tue, Wed, & Thur from 6-8pm. So I've had to hurry from work to pick him up from daycare and get him home to eat a snack and dressed for practice all in about an hour's time. Then after practice I had to get him fed with dinner, bathed, put to bed, and then had to wash his uniform in order to do it all again the next day. Yikes! I did get some good reading done during his practices! :)

Anyway, here is a gift bag that you've probably seen recently on SCS. I'm not sure who came up with the design but it's great. Very easy and fun. I had fun using my new scallop circle punch and jumbo eyelets, both from SU. Love it!

Happy Hello

Boy, was this another tedious card to make! Making sure the squares were cut just right so they would line up perfectly was a chore. If I had a large square punch it would have helped but alas, I don't. So I had to measure and cut them all by hand. I won't be doing that again for a while!

OCC Challenge

I recently subscribed to the "Our Creative Corner" blogsite. This wonderful site is made up of a team of very talented gals, which is a neat way to do a site so that you can get a variety of styles in one place. On Saturday they posted a challenge to dust off your Christmas or winter stamps and use them on a card. So here's my sample. Although it was fun to do it didn't make me look forward to the cold weather yet, that's for sure!!

Rainy Days and Sundays

Hello there! Well today is Sunday and although it isn't raining I'm still feeling blue. Today is my last day of vacation. :( I hate going back to work after being off for so long. We had a great time though! We did so many fun family things and got to sleep in most days. And we have our Florida trip in 2 1/2 months to look forward to. So I guess things aren't all bad.

Here's a fun card I made yesterday. It was fun to paper piece the umbrella and boots to match the gingham paper. And the ribbon matches too, fun fun.

Gift Set

Hi there! It's been a few days since my last post because I've been busy planning our Disney World vacation. I knew that you needed to call way in advance for the character meal reservations (which I have already done) but I had no idea that you also should call early for regular dinner reservations too! I was still able to get most of what I wanted but not exactly at the times that I wanted. And we aren't even going until October! I hate having to plan when and where we are going to eat because who knows how we will feel that day, etc. I like not having a set plan that I have to follow...it takes the spontaneity out of it. But with "The World" there are so many people there and so much to do in little time you really are forced to have some kind of plan. It will all work out and I know we'll have a great time no matter what.

I don't know exactly why I made such a big project last night (I don't have anyone to give it to) except that I haven't done any crafting in a while and I guess I had a lot of creativity built up or something. :) I altered this lunchbox tin along with matching dividers and a thank you card. I wanted to make more cards to go with it but I ran out of DP. I'll get some more and do that later. Hope you like it.

Big Pink Elephant

Hi again everyone! Hope your week is going well. I'm still enjoying my time off. We went to an Indians game last night with the kids and had a great time, even though they lost. We usually sit in the lawn for these games but this time we tried sitting in the stands and the kids actually did great. It helped that we sat in the first row of the upper deck because then the kids could stand up between innings and look around without bothering anyone in front of us. I was, however, very nervous that my kids would spill their pop or ice cream over the edge onto some unsuspecting fan's head. Thankfully that never happened and we are still allowed into the park, for now. :)

This card was very tedious to make but turned out pretty good I think. I do not have square punches this size so I had to measure and cut each one. Ugh! I could have made it a square card and then would have been able to use my square punch but I don't have any square envelopes. So I made the squares smaller and positioned them more toward the top which left an area for the ribbon at the bottom. And how about that pink elephant?! All elephants should be pink I think. I paper pieced him to match the DP. Too cute!

Another Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday everyone! Mondays usually aren't very happy for me but I am on vacation this week so today is a happy one for sure! I haven't had any real time off since Christmas of last year because I've been trying to save up my vacation time for our Florida trip this fall. I finally have accrued all the time I need and then some, so now it's time to relax a little bit. :)

This layout is another Splitcoast sketch challenge. So, did you do as I told you and go to the Splitcoaststampers website and look them up? Well what are you waiting for?! This card was fun because of the DP, very boyish and very cute. And it goes perfectly with the train stamp from SU. Hope you like it. Mary

SC Sketch Challenge

I made this card using a Splitcoast sketch challenge from a few days ago. These challenges are great because by having the layout already decided half of the work is already done for you! You just have to decide on the paper and image, and to me that's a cinch. Follow the Splitcoaststampers link on my sidebar and give it a try!

Finally, a New Post!

It seems like forever since I've posted anything new! My week was thrown off just a little. A friend and coworker of mine (you may have heard of her...Julie Campbell. Her blog is Stamped In His Image, and she is on the Cornish Heritage design team, as well as a member of Craft Critique. She has also been published several times in Papercrafts magazine.--can you tell that she is my stamping hero?--ok, enough about her.) needed me to switch my day off so she could be off work to attend CHA in Chicago. Well how could I, a fellow stamper and design team wanna-be, say no?! I told her I would do it as long as she told me every detail of CHA and got me a used napkin or strand of hair from Gina K. :) Anyway, because my normal routine was disrupted with that and a bad cold I haven't been able to get in my craft room until today. Enjoy!

Pocket Card

This card was so fun to make! I haven't made many pocket cards and I didn't have any directions to go by so I kind of made it up as I went along. That small detail aside, I think it turned out pretty good. :) It was also fun to use all of these punches too. They make everything so special and delicate yet they are a snap to use. I hope you like it. Mary

Welcome Baby

I fell in love with this booties DP when I saw it at JoAnn's. One of the things I liked best about having babies was the shoes! They were just so darn cute and little. Some people think that putting shoes on babies are a waste because they don't walk yet. But I disagree. I think they complete the outfit for sure! Whenever I give someone a baby outfit for a gift I always include shoes and everyone seems to comment on them and love them.

Twin Trees

I really like how this card turned out. The symmetry pleases the eye for sure. It is a good example of why clear stamps are so great, because I could never have lined the trees up so perfectly had they been mounted on wooden blocks. I think this card could be used for many different occasions just by changing the sentiment, ie: sympathy, wedding, etc. I hope you like it as well. Mary

Quick Card Pack

These are a pack of cards I made really quick last night while my husband was working an extra detail. (He helped get 5 drunk drivers off the roads last night so he deserves a big hooray!) I know the design is very simple but it's great for mass production! :)

Are You Ready for Some Football !!!

My son will be in 3rd grade this fall and will be starting football for the first time. He is so very excited!!! He picked up his helmet and shoulder pads last week and we went out this morning to buy the rest of his equipment. Look out Peyton Manning, here comes my boy!

No Stamping Required

I just finished making this card and realized that I didn't stamp a thing for it. There are no images on it, just lots of embellishing and texture. It can be used for just about anything (except maybe for a man because of the flower) because there is no sentiment to send it in a specific direction. What do you think? By the way, in real life the color of the flower is a soft brown and the top ribbon is mauve to match the paper. The camera changed the color a bit. :))

Paper Piecing

Hi again everyone! I hope you all have had a good week. All is well here. Not much to share, the summer is just plugging along.

This is a card I made for a girl at work who just found out that she is expecting. She isn't married so it was a bit awkward for me to be 100% excited and say congratulations. But she is very excited and any baby is a miracle, so I guess that's all that matters. And I can tell she will be a very good mother.

On this card I did some paper piecing. Have you ever done that before? It is when you stamp the image on a piece of DP and cut out the part of the image that you want to have that design on it. Then you adhere it to that same image that you stamped on a piece of cardstock. For example, I pieced the girl's shirt. Do you see how it matches the DP that is in the background? It is a very easy thing to do and it gives a great look to an image. Give it a try. :)

Simple Thank You

I hope all of you have had as good a weekend as I have. Tomorrow is my husband's 40th birthday and as a present we spent the night in downtown Indianapolis. After dropping the kids at my in-law's we first went to see "Hancock" which was very good and the story was not what we expected. Then we checked into the hotel and went for a swim in the pool. After showering we went to dinner at The Weber Grill which was fantastic! Because we needed our dinners to settle we went for a walk to the monument on the circle and "people watched". When it got dark we went to a couple of bars for drinks and to watch the end of the NASCAR race. We actually got to sleep in the next morning which is a treat because I don't think I've slept past 8:00 since my son was born 8 1/2 years ago! We had a wonderful brunch in the hotel and then went to a bookstore to look around, which is one of our favorite things to do when we go out. Fun, fun, fun! Steve said it was a perfect 40th birthday gift--so I guess I done good! :)

This is a card I made really fast this evening for my in-laws to thank them for watching our kids. It is very simple I know but I just wanted to get it done fast because my kids were tired and cranky from the change in routine of spending the night somewhere else.

Pretty in Pink

Here's another card I made while playing with my oval Nestabilities dies. I stamped the image on the dotted DP, then cut it out. I stamped it again on the white oval so I could get the hanger on there, then I adhered the cut out image over it. I punched a hole on either side of the hanger to put the ribbon through and then tied it around the hanger. I think any proud new mama would be happy to get this card. :)

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you are enjoying your holiday. My husband worked today so we haven't done anything special yet but we plan on cooking out on the grill tonight and lighting some fireworks. Do you have any special traditions for the 4th?

Here is a card I made today while I was waiting for my husband to come home. I've had the oval Nestabilities dies for a while now and wanted to play with them today. This is a very simple card that could be used for a graduation I think.
