Thanks for the Little Things

Happy Monday everyone! I know Mondays aren't usually associated with happiness, but today was good for me because I got out of work early which gave me a little time to make a card. Any day I can get in my craft room is a good day. :) Anyway, this is a card I made for a friend at work. She works so hard and does a bunch of little things that the rest of us don't usually notice but they greatly contribute to the excellent flow of our workplace. She also coordinates the lottery that a lot of us take part in. So I thought I would make her a card to tell her how much I appreciate her. She loves flowers and grows some beautiful ones in her own backyard, so I think she will like this card.

Heartfelt Thanks

Hi there! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Yesterday was so productive for us. I cleaned the entire house. And I don't mean just a light dusting...I cleaned baseboards, dusted the high shelves that you can't really even see, wiped down cabinet fronts, cleaned windows, etc, etc. I guess the spring cleaning bug bit me or something. While I was doing that my husband was mowing the yard, picking up sticks, trimming, etc. The best thing was that our kids were unusually cooperative and helpful by playing nicely together and staying out of our way. Sometimes I would get that panicky feeling like, "They have been too quiet, what are they up to?" or "Have they been kidnapped?!" But no, they were fine. Just playing some kind of make-believe on the swing set. Great, great day. :)
Anyway, on to the cards. I made these cards for my kid's Religious Ed. teachers because next Sunday is their last day of Sunday school. The first one I cased from one of my favorite stampers, Silke Ledlow (My Life). The other one is a little different take on the first one. When I was trying to stamp the image for the first card I got the flowers too far apart so I couldn't use it. Well, being the frugal stamper that I am I didn't want to waste it, so I just made a different card with it. What do you think? Take care and have a great Sunday! Mary

Tart and Tangy Set of Cards

Hi there again everyone! I hope you all had a good week. Mine was good but busy. I spent part of the week preparing for a fiesta at my friend's church. The women's group she is in was having this fiesta as a fund raiser and she asked if I would like to have a make-n-take table. I of course agreed because I am always looking for new customers. It was a lot of fun and there were quite a lot of women there, I was surprised. Anyway, this is the set of cards I made as a give-away they had at the end of the night. I was so happy with how they turned out that I wanted to keep them for myself! :0) But alas, I had to give them up. All supplies for these cards came from Stampin' Up. Enjoy!

Let's Have Lunch

Doesn't this image look inviting? I feel like sitting right down to order a salad and read a book. I purchased this DP at Archiver's today after the Acrylic Album class I took. I had some coupons that required a purchase in order to use them. I know that's how they get you but I was good and only bought the paper. I know, you're shocked at my restraint aren't you?! Well, I'm taking my daughter in to have her pictures taken this week and I'm sure I'll be unloading some cash there. So I had to be good today. :)

Acrylic Album

Well it has been a fun Sunday! After church I went to my local scrapbooking store, Archiver's, with a friend to attend an Acrylic Album class. For only $15.00 we made this great looking album. I really couldn't believe that all of these supplies came with the price of the class. What a great deal and it was so fun! I can't tell you the names of any of the supplies because we weren't given that information. But I do know that they were all from that store.

I'm Back!!!

Hello everyone! I bet you all thought I had fallen off the face of the earth or something! :) Well, not quite. I had the flu, or some kind of bad bug, for almost 2 weeks so I was feeling less than creative. Also during that time my husband was out of town for 5 days, so I had to play master and commander of our little ship here at home. It was not a fun time. But he is home now and I'm feeling much better. Here are a few things I created today:

The first one is a circle card that I created by off-setting a large Nestabilities scallop circle die on the fold of the CS. This way it stays together on the edge so that you can open it. Very simple and gives a great new look to your cards.

CS- SU bashful blue, brilliant blue, WW

No Posts Again--Sorry!

I'm so sorry I haven't posted anything yet this weekend but I have had the flu for the past week. I'm almost over it but am still very tired and weak. I haven't even thought about going into my craft room let alone felt any desire to be creative. I'll do my best to get something out to you later. :) Thanks, Mary

We've Moved!

Just one post today. I made 5 of these cards as a set for my friend and now I'm tired. Plus the weather is gorgeous here and I promised my kids we would go to the park.

I have had this DP for what seems like forever because I couldn't think of anything to use it for. But for this moving card I thought it would be perfect to simulate wallpaper. And the crimped white CS is supposed to be like wainscoting, and the ribbon is the chair rail. I hope she likes it and I hope you do to. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Spring Solitude

I just love this image of the birdie sitting on the branch. We have seen a lot of little birdies around our house lately. They are actually fat birdies because the rain we've had has brought up all the worms for them to eat. My cat just loves to sit in our bay window and watch them. She crouches down and chatters at them all the while her tail is flipping around like crazy. If she were an outside cat I just know I would have a "birdie present" at my doorstep every day. Those birds should be thankful! :)

Supplies:
CS- SU WW, almost amethyst
Stamps- SU "Spring Solitude" set

Card Fit For My Name

When I saw this card on Jen Del Muro's blogsite "i{heart}2stamp" I knew I had to try it because it's a picket fence and my last name is Pickett. I am so pleased how it turned out! I think I did a pretty good job getting it to look close to the original especially when you take into account that I had no directions and my supplies were a little different. What do you think?
Supplies:
CS- SU WW, always artichoke, so saffron, marigold morning

Mini Lunchbox

This is a quick little project I put together tonight. I found these miniature lunchboxes in the dollar spot at Target a while back not knowing exactly what I was going to do with them, but knew they would come in handy someday. It was so fun to decorate and because it was so small it took no time at all. I filled mine with Skittles because that's what I had on hand but the list of things to put in here is almost endless: chocolate, packages of gum, paper and crayons for the kids, love notes, tooth fairy money, paper and pencil to play hangman or tic-tac-toe, a little present like earrings, etc. Now I'm thinking I should have bought more of them! ;)

Supplies:

CS- SU choc chip, old olive, WW

Ink- SU markers choc chip and old olive

Brads- Michael's

Ribbon- Wal-Mart and Michael's

You Have Got To Try This!

Hi everyone. I hope you all have had a good week. I want to get right to this technique. You have got to try this! It's a way of making clouds for your backgrounds. I learned this from Julie Buhler's blogsite "Paper Pleasing Ideas" (that's actually where I cased this entire card from). Isn't the image and coloring just great?! I have had this image for a long time but always thought of it as a beach theme like she is standing in sand. But Julie got me to look at it a different way like she is standing on grass. Now to the good part. To make the clouds you sponge over the edge of a scallop circle with blue ink and that's it! It's so easy and I just can't get over how great it looks! Go try it right now, you'll love it.
