Christmas Wish List Binder

I got the idea for this from the blog Chicknscratch (follow the link on my sidebar) but I made a few changes. She had hers on a ring, but I thought that might be too loose and floppy in a purse. So I put mine together with my Bind-It-All. I also added tabs at the bottom of the pages to make them easier to turn. There is a page for each family member with their name at the top, a page that says family, and one that says friends. It was very fun to make and would be really useful I think. I made this one for a friend of mine and will give it to her at church tomorrow. I'll let you know what she thinks.

Trying to stay warm here...it's rainy and will be in the lower 30's by the end of the day. Burrrrr!

Hello there! Hope you're having a good day. I made this card yesterday evening while my daughter also made a card. She is only in first grade so it is probably only pretty to her mother's eyes so I won't bother showing it (besides, she wouldn't let me :)).

A Quick Little Project

Hi all. I just got back from Wal Mart where I found these yummy treats. As you can see they are from Ghirardelli and they're called Peppermint Bark. Oh my Lordie Bee they are wonderful! I thought they might make great little gifts so I got to work on them right away. The scallop square punch from SU doesn't quite fit over them so I had to use a white background. But next I'm going to try making a bigger scallop square using my scallop edge punch from SU. If you have the square scallops Nestabilities dies you would probably be all set. Then I'm also going to try just putting a band of CS or DP around the middle and let the white and red striped edges stick out. I will post those later when I get a chance to do them. The image is from one of SU's hostess sets "Deer Friends". See ya, Mary

Anniversary Card

It's Friday! Don't ya love it?! My kids just got on the bus so I have the whole day to look forward to now. :) I wanted to share this card with you. Last Tuesday was our 13th Wedding Anniversary! And this is the card I made for my husband. Can you believe that after making cards for the past 4 years or so this is the first one I've ever made for him? That's terrible I know, but I always felt like it was really just like giving a card to myself because after he looked at it for a few days he would probably just give it back to me to keep in my sample stash. Anyway, he really liked it. (Sorry that the photo is a little blurry or grainy. Something is going on with my computer I think.) We postponed celebrating our Anniversary until tomorrow night so we could go out on a "date"- just the 2 of us. We are just going to dinner and a movie, but we always have fun when we go out so I'm looking forward to it.

Happy Sunday

Hello everyone. I hope you are all having a good weekend. We've had a great one so far. On Friday we went to the movies to see Madagascar 2--good, but I liked the first one better--where my kids were chosen to give a review of the the movie for a local kid's site. After they gave their 2 thumbs up they received a large stuffed Melman and Gloria. They were very excited! Then we went out to eat. Saturday morning we went to a pancake breakfast at their school. It's fun for them because the teachers are the ones cooking and serving, and it's a great fundraiser for the school. Then my husband worked outside in the cold all day mowing the lawn for the last time this season, he put away the patio furniture and all the other things you do to get ready for the winter, and he also cleaned out the garage and laundry/storage room in the basement. He was a tired man after supper! My son spent the afternoon swimming at one of our high schools with his cub scout den for 3 hours. He was also a tired little man after supper!

After church this morning we made a bee-line to Wal Mart to buy the newly released KungFu Panda DVD--LOVE this movie! While I was going down the main isle there I was filled with joy...the spirit of the season burst open inside of me. There was a huge Christmas tree in the center and then row after row of seasonal goodies like French's Fried onions, cream of mushroom soup, bags of stuffing, cans of green beans, pumpkin pies, cool whip, etc. I know it's probably bad that food has such a big meaning to me but I can't help it. It reminds me of all the Thanksgivings at my Grandma's house along with the Christmas's at my parent's house. It fills me with warmth and happiness. Also, I LOVE giving gifts at Christmas. There's nothing like finding just the right gift for someone and watching them light up when they open it. The 1st of November until the 1st of January is definitely my favorite part of the year!

It's chilly and gray here, so the rest of today will be spent snuggled under a blanket watching our new movie and cheering on our Colts. And then eating a yummy ham dinner. Love this time of year!!! :)

Bountiful Harvest

Hi all! Well my first week back to work is done, thank goodness. It was a short week because I took Monday off to Christmas shop but it still seemed long. But I cleared my calendar for today so I could spend all my time in my craft room (well, in the laundry room and the craft room- but that's ok.) Here's a card I just finished. All the fall colors are really getting me ready for Thanksgiving. Bring on the turkey!

Image- SU: (forgot the name of the set, but it's retired)

I'm Baaaaaack!

Hi everyone, I'm back from vacation! And what a wonderful time we had! Disney World was even more amazing than I remember as a child and my kids loved it too. I can't count then number of characters we met, the food was awesome, and the weather was great. Saint Petersburg was just as fun...great weather, good food, and we loved playing in the ocean, laying on the beach, and watching dolphins. The kids were crying when it was time to go, so I guess they had fun!! :)

We returned Thursday night, I was busy grocery shopping and doing Halloween things yesterday, and today I'll be getting the kids ready to visit their grandparents for the night while my husband and I go to a costume party at the house of one of the doctors I work with. I've also been trying to get through all of the e-mails I received while I was gone, all 250 of them! Most of them are posts from the blogs I subscribe to. I'm sorry to say that I just decided to delete most of them because I figured it would take me forever to go through them all and it was taking away from my crafting time. So I just went through some of my most favorties. I'm hoping to get some card time in there somewhere but if not, I hope you'll hang in there with me for a few more days before I get something creative done for you. I hope you're all doing well! Mary
