Movin' On!

The end of the school year is upon us and it's time for the kids to move on...move on to summer break when we will all be happy that there is no homework! And then move on to the next grade levels. Keeping this in mind I found this stamp from Stampendous and thought it was perfect for this theme. I thought it was cute to put my son's name on the license plate too. The saying on the inside is also very appropriate for the teachers. It says: "We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere." Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there! I hope you are enjoying your special day. I've had a very nice day so far: breakfast in bed, church with a special blessing and a flower, lunch made for the kids by my husband so I could sit and relax, flowers and the Benjamin Button movie, and I got to go to Michael's and Archiver's alone and didn't feel rushed or guilty. :) I'll be enjoying some quiet time to make teacher thank you cards in a little bit and then for supper we're going out to Stir Crazy. What a great day!

This is the Mother's Day card I made for my mom but I don't think she will receive it until tomorrow. I've already called to apologize and of course she understood. Mom's are like that.

Hello...Are You Still There???

Are you still there...anyone...hello? I wouldn't blame you if you left me. I haven't been a very good blog-mate lately. It's been almost 1 month since my last post. Wow! I've thought about it almost everyday but just didn't have the time, energy, or drive to do anything worthy of posting. I hope you will forgive me for my absence. It's been a whirlwind of puppy, kids, doctor's appointments, home improvement projects, and cake balls that have kept me busy. (What are cake balls you ask? I'll have to leave that for another post, but let me tell you this much...you'll love them! But just a warning...they are very dangerous to the figure.) With all that going on I couldn't find time to get into my craft room. And when I finally did have the time I lost my mo-jo and didn't feel crafty. Has that ever happened to you?

But then the other day a friend at work (the one who's daughter got married last September) told me that her daughter is pregnant! I was so happy for them that I just couldn't wait to make them a card. So I blew the dust off of my stamps and got busy. It was just the thing to get me going again. And here it is. I decided not to go with the traditional baby colors because they are not your average couple. They do things their own way and can appreciate the atypical. I hope you like it too. And I hope you're actually still there to see it. Mary

Anticipation

Sing it like Carly Simon now! ..."Anticipation, anticipa-a-tion. It's makin' me late. It's keepin' me waiting." These words are about my life today. The very long-a-waited TV installation day has finally come and we're very excited about it. But as everything else in my life goes, I have to wait just a little longer. The install guys were supposed to be here at 9:00 but were delayed and weren't here til 11:15. Then after working for about an hour and a half they had to go buy some trim and wire (that's code for: they needed to get some lunch). They finally got back about 2 hours later only to tell us that they couldn't find matching trim for our cabinet surrounds, probably because they were custom made, so they will have to hand router some and install it at a later date. After seeing the open-mouthed, dumbfounded, disappointed looks on our faces they did assure us that they can continue with the TV/surround sound install and that we will be watching TV like everyone else in the 21st century tonight. I'll believe it when I see it.

Anyway, since I had nothing else to do except keep my kids and dog entertained without leaving the house I thought I would make a card. I have a friend whose sister was in a terrible car accident a week ago. She was not seat belted and was thrown out of the car and landed in the road. She suffered multiple broken bones, collapsed lungs, a ruptured spleen, and a head injury of which she has already had one surgery for so far. She is stable but very critical. Her 16 year old babysitter was also in the car not seat belted, was ejected and pinned under the car. She is doing much better than Sarah. Sarah's 1 year old son was in the car too but luckily was buckled in his car seat and was uninjured. So it proves that you should always wear your seat belts!!! This is my husband's lifework almost. He gives tickets for this all the time to try to get people to change their ways. He said evidence proves that you will sustain much fewer injuries/if any at all if you can stay in the vehicle during a crash, and the only way to be assured of that is to wear your seat belt. So this is a card I made for my friend. I really wanted to put a green ribbon across the patterned paper but I didn't have any that matched and I couldn't leave the house to buy some because of the install guys. Oh well. On the inside it says "You're in my thoughts and prayers." I feel so helpless in this situation so all I can offer are my prayers.

I'm Still Here!

I bet you thought I fell off the earth or something. It's only been 3 weeks since my last post but it feels like months. I almost forgot how to do it! :) It's just been so hard to get any crafting or anything else done since we got the puppy. He is still in that "chewing" stage and can't be trusted to be left alone. Plus my husband was out of town for almost a week so I was left to do all of the chores, etc. by myself. Also, we've been doing a lot of things around the house to get ready for our "big TV install". We've been thinking of finally moving into the 21st century and getting a flat screen. That sounds easy, right? Wrong! To get the size we want we have to hang it above the fireplace, which is brick and needed some reconfiguring in order to get it to look the way we want it. I will be doing some painting tomorrow and then we'll be ready for the company we've hired to come in on Tuesday to install it and run all the wires for it, the surround sound, and all the other components. And since we're doing all of that we might as well get one for the bedroom too, right? Well, it took some work to prepare for that too. So doing all of this left little time to craft.

I did get some cards done last Sunday though. My daughter and I went to a "Mom and Me" crop at Archiver's. We had such a good time. They had snacks, lunch, give-aways, etc. I worked on these cards and my daughter worked on a scrapbook of her birthday. We had fun and made some great memories.

How Can This Be Comfortable?

Tell me how this is right. Just being that close to my husband's feet is enough to gross me out. But Dexter doesn't seem to mind. The smellier the better. He gets into the weirdest positions to sleep and seems so comfortable and at peace. You gotta love him!
